Baccara was a Spanish female duo, a successful representative of 70s Eurodisco music. The two singers, Mayte Mateos (February 7 or March 7, 1951) and María Mendiola (April 4 or May 4, 1952) were originally dancers. Their first single, Yes Sir, I Can Boogie (1977), is now one of the evergreens in pop music. The relationship between María and Mayte deteriorated in the early 1980s. They first tried solo, then both singers chose a new partner, but they insisted on the name Baccara equally. The original Baccara is one of the most well-known Spanish bands in the world, although her records were made in the Germany, and the two singers achieved her greatest success abroad.
